Learning A.R.T.S.

Certified School Aide Program
The professional certification program is designed to give classroom personnel, specifically one on one classroom aides, the skills and training they need to understand the implementation of these programs in the educational environment, how to work with outside agencies, and how to better provide appropriate and effective education to children that require specialized behavior services.

Certification will include 24-30 hours of lecture/demonstration and 2 hours of supervised in classroom hands on work.

Ongoing certification will require one (1) hour per month of overlap with a qualified Learning ARTS Behavior Consultant. This time will be spent observing classroom implementation, providing feedback to certified aides and teachers, and addressing questions and concerns specific to the unique situation of each classroom. This overlap will be provided at the Learning ARTS Behavior Consultant rate on file. To maintain certification an individual can miss no more than three (3) hours of overlap in any twelve month period. Any individual failing to meet the minimum number of overlap hours, or receiving consistent negative feedback from the Learning ARTS Behavior Consultant, will have their certification revoked. Learning ARTS will work with district special education faculty to address concerns as they arise.

Learning ARTS will also provide your district with data collection and behavior intervention plan templates, or provide feedback on existing district forms. Forms being used by Learning ARTS certified personnel must be approved by Learning ARTS to ensure accurate and consistent data collection.

Learning ARTS will also be offering continuing education units (CEUs) for all personnel participating in the program and is working to meet the requirements of "professional development" outlined in No Child Left Behind.

It is our sincere hope that this program will allow us to better develop cooperative models with the school districts we serve - while providing a long term cost savings by allowing school district personnel to provide more effective and appropriate in classroom aides. In addition, it is our hope that by working cooperatively together we can better address parent and caretaker concern regarding training and qualifications for in classroom aides.
